What You'll See:
In this video, you’ll see Chris crank up the intensity, and use an Aggressive Cow Calling Strategy to finally get a bull that’s locked down with a cow and her calf to come running in. Before watching this sequence, review the “Real Elk Sounds” episodes #177 and #178 – Excited Cow Calling video, and get a feel for how that cow was vocalizing and using a high level of intensity to try and elicit a response/action from whatever elk she was looking for. For this particular call-in effort, Chris was trying to emulate the cow in those episodes. …and once the camera starts rolling, you’ll see the entire interaction unfold just as it did on the mountain, all in real-time – no edits.
Setting the Stage:
It was down to the last couple of days of the Arizona Early Rifle Elk Season, and Chris was assisting a friend of his who had one of those highly coveted tags! The hunter was looking for one of the giants he had found earlier during his scouting efforts, and so Chris was wading through as many bulls as he could find and call in, trying to find “the one.” On this particular morning, he had looked over a couple of good bulls earlier in the morning, and was on his way back to the truck – tired and hungry – when a bull squealed up on the ridge above him. This video shows the rest of that story…
Viewing / Listening Tips:
The wind noise in this sequence is quite loud, so there aren’t really any “subtle” sounds you need to listen for; speakers or headphones will work equally as well.

When The Doorway Isn't Right - Part Two
What You'll See:
In Part One, Chris provided a great example of what can happen when you get caught in a bad set-up, your camo’s “reflective signature” is brighter than your background, and you make even the slightest of movements when a cautious bull is coming in – even if he’s coming in on a s... -
An Earlier Lesson in Patience
What You'll See:
In this video, Chris shows you a perfect example of why–often times–it can pay off being a little more patient in your set-ups, and let your set-ups and calling efforts “work” for a little bit before making any “aggressive” moves. Yes, sometimes it DOES pay to be aggressive, and...
